Abu Dhabi has 7 major new attractions open right now in 2026, including the Natural History Museum, teamLab Phenomena, Zayed National Museum, and Surf Abu Dhabi. Eight more are confirmed to open before December 2026, from Guggenheim Abu Dhabi to Harry Potter World. Here is exactly what's open, what's coming, and what to visit first. 

What has changed? Since late 2024, Abu Dhabi has been in the middle of its biggest tourism transformation in a decade. The Saadiyat Cultural District, years in the making, has finally come together. Hudayriyat Island has gone from a beach to a world-class sports and surf destination. And Yas Island keeps expanding. This is not a list of things expected to open. Everything below is verified open or confirmed for 2026.

Seven major new attractions are fully open in Abu Dhabi as of June 2026. If you are traveling this year, these are the ones to prioritize: no waiting, no "coming soon." 

TeamLab Phenomena is absolutely worth visiting. It is the world's first purpose-built teamLab site, and there is nothing else like it in the Middle East. 

Opened on April 18, 2025, in the Saadiyat Cultural District, this 17,000 sq. m immersive art museum was conceived by Tokyo-based art collective teamLab alongside Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism and Miral. When our team visited, the standout experience was Levitation Void, a moving black circle that shifts based on the environment around it, making every visit genuinely different. The equally striking Massless Suns and Dark Suns fill an entire room with spheres of light that react to your presence.

Best for: Couples, art lovers, curious teens. Allow 2–3 hours.

Natural History Museum of Abu Dhabi

The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi takes visitors through 13.8 billion years of Earth's story from the Big Bang to the present, anchored by one of the most complete T. rex skeletons ever found. 

Opened November 22, 2025, in the Saadiyat Cultural District, the museum's star exhibit is Stan, a 67-million-year-old T. rex skeleton displayed in a dramatic action pose that genuinely stops you in your tracks. A 25-meter blue whale skeleton hangs nearby. The museum's design by Mecanoo Architects is itself worth the visit: swooping organic forms inspired by desert landscapes, with galleries that flow from cosmic origins to current climate science.

Best for: Families with school-age children, science enthusiasts, first-time visitors. The children's activity areas make this one of the most genuinely kid-friendly institutions on the island. 

Zayed National Museum Abu Dhabi 

The Zayed National Museum is the UAE's national museum. It tells the story of the nation itself, from 300,000 years of human history to the vision of its founding father. 

Opened December 3, 2025, and designed by Pritzker Prize laureate Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the building's five soaring steel towers are shaped after falcon wings, which is a deliberate symbol of the UAE's heritage. The towers also function as solar thermal chimneys, making the building as sustainable as it is striking. Six permanent galleries take you through UAE landscapes, coastal heritage, and the life of the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan through interactive audiovisual exhibits. 

Don't miss: The Abu Dhabi Pearl (one of the world's oldest natural pearls) and the reconstructed ancient Magan Boat, the result of a research partnership with Zayed University and NYUAD.

Surf Abu Dhabi

Surf Abu Dhabi is the world's largest and most advanced artificial wave park and it is genuinely accessible for complete beginners, not just experienced surfers. 

Open since October 2024 on Hudayriyat Island and developed by Modon Properties in partnership with Kelly Slater's Wave Company, Surf Abu Dhabi generates the tallest and longest man-made waves in the world, in saltwater, which is a global first. Sessions are structured by skill level, from Learn-to-Surf packages coached by professionals from South Africa and Australia all the way to WSL world tour-standard barrels. The location on Hudayriyat Island is 15 minutes from Downtown Abu Dhabi and part of a growing sports and leisure cluster that also includes Circuit X and 321 Sports.

Best for: Adventurous travelers, sports tourists, teens, adults. Book weekend slots at least a week in advance, they sell out. 

Snow Abu Dhabi 

Snow Abu Dhabi is one of the best ways to spend a summer afternoon in Abu Dhabi, especially when outdoor temperatures hit 45°C and outdoor attractions become difficult. 

Opened June 2023 inside Reem Mall on Al Reem Island, Snow Abu Dhabi maintains a constant -2°C across 10,000 sq. m of snow park. It features 12 rides and 17 attractions, including two enormous toboggan slides (Grauppel's Summit Escape and Ice and Floes Toboggan Race), a deep snowball garden, and a ski slope. Think of it as Abu Dhabi's answer to Ski Dubai, smaller, but very well executed. The Snowflake Garden area is particularly popular with families for photos.

Louvre Abu Dhabi



Louvre Abu Dhabi remains one of the best museums in the Middle East, and it has become even more compelling now that it anchors the world's most concentrated cultural district. 

Opened in 2017, designed by Jean Nouvel, the museum's iconic latticed dome creates a "rain of light" effect that shifts through the day. What has changed in 2026 is the context around it: Louvre now sits within walking distance of teamLab Phenomena, the Natural History Museum, Zayed National Museum, and the incoming Guggenheim, making Saadiyat Cultural District a genuine rival to Paris's museum mile. Plan a full day to cover multiple institutions. 

Insider tip: Visit the Louvre after 4 PM. The dome's light effect is strongest in the late afternoon, and queues are shorter. Evening entry gives you the waterfront promenade at golden hour as a bonus.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi



SeaWorld Abu Dhabi offers eight themed marine realms and is the first SeaWorld anywhere to be built without orca performances, making it the most ethically forward marine park in the world. 

Open on Yas Island, the park takes you from the Arctic to tropical reefs across immersive themed zones with live animal encounters, interactive touch pools, and educational shows built around genuine conservation messaging. The Manta Coaster is a highlight for thrill-seekers. Budget 5 to 6 hours minimum to cover all eight realms properly; rushing means missing the quieter, more immersive zones toward the back of the park. 

Where: Yas Island, Abu Dhabi (combine with Ferrari World or Yas Waterworld for a full Yas day)  

Best for: Families, marine life enthusiasts, first-time Yas Island visitors. 

Eight more attractions are confirmed to open before the end of 2026. These are worth factoring into your travel dates, especially if Guggenheim Abu Dhabi or Harry Potter World is on your bucket list. 

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is expected to open in the second half of 2026 and will be the newest and largest museum in the global Guggenheim network. 

Designed by architect Frank Gehry, who is known for the Bilbao Guggenheim and the Abu Dhabi museum, it will sit in the Saadiyat Cultural District, a short walk from the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Its collection spans modern and contemporary art from the 1960s to today, with a deliberate focus on artists from the WANASA region (West Asia, North Africa, and South Asia). Special exhibitions, artist residencies, education programs, and community events will accompany the permanent collection. According to the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, cultural site visits grew 47% year-on-year in the first half of 2025 alone, the Guggenheim opening will accelerate that further. 

Why plan around it: With Guggenheim open, Saadiyat will house five world-class cultural institutions within walking distance of each other, a cluster with no parallel in the region. 

Yas Waterworld is expanding in summer 2026 with 18 new attractions and an additional 16,900 sq. m, bringing the park's total to 70 attractions. 

The expansion's standout additions include the UAE's tallest waterslide, a 15-meter drop, and The Legend of the Lost Village, a new storytelling-led water attraction that runs visitors through a narrative experience across multiple slides and water features. Already one of the UAE's best theme parks, this expansion makes it the most feature-dense water park between Dubai and the rest of the Gulf. Suitable for all ages.

Yes, Harry Potter World is confirmed for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, though the exact opening date within 2026 is still to be announced. 

The expansion will bring environments inspired by the Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley, and Hogwarts castle to the existing Warner Bros. theme park. Plans include live shows, interactive wand experiences, themed dining at The Three Broomsticks and The Great Hall, and rides designed for all ages. For reference, the Wizarding World expansions in Orlando and Hollywood are consistently ranked among the world's top theme park additions; Abu Dhabi's version is expected to match that standard. 

Best for: Families, Harry Potter fans, teens. Book Warner Bros. World tickets in advance once the date is announced. 

The Sphere Abu Dhabi is a 20,000-seat entertainment venue wrapped in a high-resolution 360-degree LED display, modeled on The Sphere in Las Vegas. 

Planned near the Aldar Headquarters on Al Raha Beach, The Sphere will host concerts, sporting events, and fully immersive cinematic experiences unlike anything currently in the UAE. The Las Vegas version, which opened in 2023, became one of the most talked-about entertainment venues in the world almost immediately. Abu Dhabi's version aims to match the same immersive scale. It will seat 20,000 people, significantly larger than Etihad Arena's 18,000, and deliver an audiovisual experience that simply cannot be replicated on a standard stage.

Velodrome Abu Dhabi on Hudayriyat Island 

The Velodrome Abu Dhabi will be the UAE's first UCI Category 1 indoor cycling track, seating 3,500 spectators and connected to a 220 km cycling network already active on Hudayriyat Island. 

The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) has officially designated Abu Dhabi "City of Bicycles", a title that reflects the emirate's investment in cycling infrastructure. The Velodrome will sit at the heart of this network, hosting international cycling championships, offering a rooftop cycling track with panoramic views of Abu Dhabi, and completing Hudayriyat Island's transformation into a premier sports destination that already includes Surf Abu Dhabi, Circuit X, and 321 Sports.

East Beach and West Beach are two new 280-meter beaches opening on Yas Bay Waterfront in 2026, each designed for a completely different crowd. 

West Beach is built for families, beachside play areas, food trucks, pedestrian promenades, and dining outlets to make it a relaxed all-day space. East Beach is the active, adult-first side of the waterfront, beach volleyball courts, football pitches, open fitness spaces, live concerts, and open seating zones. Combined, they turn Yas Bay Waterfront into something genuinely different from the existing theme park experience on Yas Island: a place to decompress between big-ticket attractions.

What is the best time to visit Abu Dhabi's new attractions in 2026? 

October to April is the best time to visit Abu Dhabi; temperatures sit between 20 and 28°C, outdoor attractions are fully enjoyable, and this is when the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is most likely to open. 

If you are traveling May to September, Abu Dhabi is still absolutely viable, you just need to plan around it. Mornings before 10 AM and evenings after 5 PM work well outdoors. Midday activity is best spent at Snow Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena, Natural History Museum, or Zayed National Museum. All four are world-class, air-conditioned, and genuinely half-day or full-day worthy. 

Seven world-class attractions are already open. Eight more are arriving before December. The Saadiyat Cultural District, years in the making, has finally become the cultural destination it was designed to be, and Hudayriyat Island has added a surf park and sports hub that no other city in the Gulf can match. 

The one thing worth saying plainly: if you have been thinking about Abu Dhabi for a while, 2026 is the year. Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will bring the Cultural District to its full complement before year-end, Harry Potter World will likely follow.
